About Us

The Chippewa Valley Chapter of SPAAMFAA was formed on March 1, 2008 by a group of people who owned old fire trucks, ambulances or just had an interest in preserving antique fire equipment and the history of the fire service in general. It became a 501c3 Educational Nonprofit Organization shortly after that. The main mission of this organization is to educate the general public about the history of the fire service and it's vehicles and to keep that history alive. Our Chapter's membership currently numbers around sixty and is comprised of current and retired fire fighters as well as general fire fighting history enthusiasts. The group rescues abandoned and neglected fire apparatus and preserves it for posterity before the ravages of time erase them from history. The Chapter owns a 1954 FWD/Darley fire truck that was originally owned by the Chippewa Falls Fire Department. It was found in a field near Durand and is currently being restored. The Chippewa Valley Chapter holds quarterly meetings and encourages entire families to be involved. Meetings start with a potluck meal and the sharing of stories of adventures had during the interim. A summer picnic and a Christmas Party are scheduled yearly as well. Anyone with an interest is welcome to get in touch with us and attend these events. We are always accepting new members. Our motto is - "To be a member, you don't have to own old fire equipment, you just have to like it".
